Ningyō | Neon Genesis Evangelion Fan Art

I'm excited to drop my first project of 2021 with this Neon Genesis Evangelion fan art. I've wanted to try out both Blender and Marmoset Toolbag 4 for a while now, so I used this project as an excuse to get hands-on with both of them. I did all the block out and boolean work in Blender and was amazed by how great it was for this kind of work. From there I polished things up in Zbrush, made the low poly and UVs in Maya, textured in Substance Painter, and did the render in Toolbag 4. The Ray Tracing features there are great, and I'm happy to add these two new software to my toolbelt!

The Asset itself is from the classic anime Evangelion, and is an elevator dial shown in one of the most iconic scenes in a later episode. With the Final Movie in the series releasing some time this year I felt like it was an appropriate time for fan art. The simple design lent itself perfectly to a learning exercise, and it was a joy to recreate.

Feedback always welcome, thank you!
